help

i have a 8 month old bichon and have had such trouble toilet training her, i have tries regular routines and praising her when she goes in the right place. but nothing seems to work!!!! i have heard off of several people that they are a stubborn breed to toilet train. has anybody got any helpfull hints or suggestions????thanks
